The type of poly bag that you need will depend on what you’re using them for.

As outlined in our video, there are some clear (pun intended) differences between the two including the clarity and behavior of the bag.

If you need for your product to be seen very clearly through the poly bag, such as bread, you’ll need polypropylene.

For most other items, you’ll most likely need polyethylene which is the most common.

Hi, everyone, Ricky Chu from Chu’s Packaging Supplies here. Today, we’re going to talk about the difference between polyethylene, poly bags and polypropylene poly bags. For the most part, when people order clear poly bags, they don’t give it a second thought and you don’t even know what you’re getting.

And you know, 90% of the time that just works. But there is a difference between the polyethylene and the polypropylene poly bags. So I want to show you the difference and how to identify and which one to pick. Polyethylene is the most common type of poly bag. If you order a clear plastic bag, that’s probably what they’re going to give you is polyethylene.

You could identify it by the clarity, a little more translucent, a little bit milky, but it’s very flexible and durable. The polypropylene bag or PP has a much clearer appearance. The clarity. Yeah. Completely see-through. And when you crunch it. Side-by-side you could tell the clarity difference between the two.

This is polyethylene. This is polypropylene. For retail settings, the polypropylene is much more presentable and you see it used a lot in bakeries because you can see the bread through it. Both are great and they get the job done. So it really depends on your preference and what you’re trying to sell.
